Learning The Hard Way

When I decide to become a writer, my family tried gloss over it and change the subject. They’d say it sounds like a good career, but hey what about a career in nursing or in becoming a doctor? Did you check how much they earn?

They never wanted to hear me talking about my dreams and my plan to become a writer and I was sort of pressured into a box. I, like you, felt no pleasure in it when I decided to just sit down and plan out my book, it was like I was joking around to them. So when I got more sick, and finally got diagnosed, I began writing again, not caring what others wanted anymore.

The people who used to tell me it’s impossible or that I should look into more of a profit earning job. They began to shut up and watch what I do, finally understanding this sort of meant to be.

I hope you have finally decided if you’re passion is not in focus of what the world wants, but in the choices and discovery that you’ve made on your own. But thank you for sharing your experiences, it reminded me that not all of us are lucky to always have the support of the people we love or surround ourselves with.
