Riding The Pipeline Operator

A while back I wrote about the bind operator :: proposal for JavaScript. This operator added extension methods and a more elegant means to chain functions together in JavaScript than anything currently available in the language. The bind operator did these things through the use of the this keyword, which made it unpopular with some. After over 3 years of waiting, in spite of adoption by WebStorm and Babel, the bind operator still languishes at stage-0, limiting its adoption by tools like Flow, TypeScript (and thus VS Code). Three years is a long time for the web — would we ever get a good postfix operator to compose functions together?

This is a really exciting development for the language and I’m looking forward to the prospect of composing functions together in a clear, elegant and streamlined fashion that improves the readability and ergonomics of my JavaScript code.
