Introducing a new opportunity for experienced fiction writers

This is our first newsletter to inform you with our updates. However, the purpose of this post is specific rather than generic monthly updates.

ILLUMINATION-Curated serving accomplished writers on Medium has published hundreds of fiction stories delighting thousands of discerning readers. More than 1,000 top writers contribute to this unique publication. As volunteer editors, we feel privileged to review these outstanding stories each day.

The inspiration to post this newsletter came from reading a post by ILLUMINATION. Considering many accomplished writers share fiction stories on ILLUMINATION-Curated and books on ILLUMINATION Book Chapters too, it would be valuable to create awareness of an opportunity for contributors of these publications.

A few points captured my attention in this article titled “Invitation and Guidance on Entering the Biggest Fiction Contest by Vocal: Why and how to join the Vocal+ fiction contest offering $125,000 in prizes.

It is inspiring to learn that Vocal Media has paid more than $500,000 to creators through many writing challenges. This platform includes many communities supporting both fiction and non-fiction writers. Vocal also offers an innovative tipping system delighting creators.

As an open and collaborative platform, Vocal gives voice to Medium writers who want to re-purpose their content by providing links to the original stories. This open approach made many writers happy, and the platform popular among freelance writers. Writers naturally admire open platforms like Medium and Vocal, giving them a voice and they refrain from competitive and restrictive platforms penalising them for selfish platform gains.

The flexibility of this contest by Vocal is worth mentioning. This new writing challenge by Vocal does not require a specific genre or theme. Writers can submit fiction pieces of up to 4,000 words. Vocal always requires a minimum of 600 words in articles. From our experience, stories between 500 and 1,000 gain a reasonable readability rate.
