Surrendering to the Flow of Time

Accept what you cannot change and courageously change what you can

I spent my childhood summers in Greece,
on journeys that gifted me serenity and peace.
As an adult, I long to go back to those days
when I existed in a blissful, dreamlike phase.

Traveling down those winding country roads,
I recall how smoothly the world flowed.
As I felt the wind caress my face,
I was in command of life’s scary race.

Gone are my young days of simplicity and ease
when life would flow as naturally as the breeze.
The loss of my childhood feels so profound
that it sometimes feels like being drowned.

As a child, I felt so incredibly light and free,
as if nothing bad could ever happen to me.
Little did that innocent creature know,
how brutally quickly time could flow.

While navigating the current of time
can feel like a never-ending climb,
we need to accept our lack of power
and admire the beauty that is ours.

Don’t get too comfortable in the moment
and be mindful of your fierce opponent.
The biggest rival of humanity is time —
it slips through the fingers like slime.

It can feel terrifying to not be in control,
but resisting time can really take a toll.
So let your mind fly in the clouds,
and accept that time knows no bounds.

Although life has its ups and downs,
there are so many beautiful sounds
if you open up your heart and listen.
The wonder of time is the way it glistens.
