How Amateur Porn Was Born

There once was a time, before OnlyFans, or any other subscription site for that matter, where amateur porn existed quietly on the web or in a shoebox in someone’s home. From live peep shows to subscription services, today we’re talking about the evolution of amateur porn in the adult industry.

At the end of the 1960s, the adult entertainment industry started to blossom. From 1969 to around 1984 was considered to be the golden age of porn. And that’s where we really see the industry take off.

Before 1973 there were strict laws prohibited the sale and consumption of porn across the United States. Even with these laws in place, people were consuming it, creating it, and selling it. So eventually in 1973 the Supreme court decided to change the laws to stop prosecuting those who were involved in the adult industry.

During the golden age of porn is when we really see mainstream porn hit the shelves of book stores and video stores. Then eventually the internet was born and well you know, as they say, the rest is history. Things just kind of evolved from there.

It’s the late 1960s and a small little sex shop called the Blue Store & DVD opens up in the shadows of New York City. Upon entering the shop, you’ll notice an array of shelves filled with mainstream pornography, along with toys and games.

During a live peep show, paying customers can essentially pay to get exactly what they want from a performer, just by keeping the gas tank filled. Or by depositing more money into the show booth.
